MiddayWeatherBrief 11/14/11: Severe Weather Potential
The first wave of active weather is firing up now in Illinois with a few Tornado Warnings already being issued for areas just south of Chicago. A Tornado Watch has been issued for portions of Illinois, Indiana and Ohio until 7pm CST this evening…however, no part of Kentucky is in that particular watch.
The latest information continues to show the better dynamics (energy) with this system into Central and Southern Illinois and Southwest Indiana. We still believe that will be a “target zone” for tornado potential. Further south into Kentucky and specifically South Central Kentucky, we are looking at more of a damaging wind potential tonight as a line of thunderstorms roll through.
Right now, it appears the timing of the strong to severe storm potential for the Bowling Green area would be after 6pm this evening.
We are going to keep our StormCon Index at 2 for this evening. Please follow Shane Holinde on his facebook page and the WBKO facebook and twitter feed for further updates and possible warnings.
Remember to NEVER use social media feeds as your primary source for severe weather information – only as a backup to your main preparedness plan which should include TV, radio and NOAA Weather Radio.
