Chilly Sunshine: AMWeatherBrief Dec 8, 2011

December 8, 2011

5am Kentucky Mesonet Temperatures

NOWCAST:
A clear sky this morning with a few areas of patchy fog near area lakes and rivers. Watch for freezing fog that may cause a few icy spots on area roadways.

QUIET BUT CHILLY:
We caught a few glimpses of sun Wednesday after several days of gloomy, wet weather. It will stay chilly, but at least readings will be a little warmer than they were Wednesday, topping out in the mid to upper 40s this afternoon. Similar temperatures can be expected Friday along with more sunshine.

THE WEEKEND/EARLY NEXT WEEK:
A weak cold front swings through Friday night, reinforcing the chilly air that’s in place. Even with lots of sunshine Saturday, readings will be hard pressed to get out of the 30s for the second round of Hometown Christmas Parades. However, a warming trend is expected to get underway Sunday and last into the middle of next week. We should be back in the 50s by Tuesday, with mid 50s forecast Wednesday. At this time, there is no significant shot at either rain or snow through the period.

TODAY:
Mostly Sunny & Chilly…High 46, winds SW-7

TONIGHT:
Mainly Clear and Cold…Low 27, winds Calm

FRIDAY:
Mostly Sunny…High 45, winds NW-7
