A Break Today, But More Storms To Come
Storm Prediction Center SLIGHT RISK area for Saturday afternoon
NOWCAST:
We will see a mix of sun and clouds this morning along with cooler, less humid conditions.
A SHORT BREAK…
A cold front that set off a renewed round of thunderstorms Thursday afternoon – some strong to severe – eased its way southward into the Tennessee Valley overnight. As a result, we will see a cooler day with a mix of sun and clouds and lower humidity. Later this evening, the cold front that moved through Thursday will return as a warm front and touch off an isolated chance of showers overnight and into Saturday morning.
STORMS RETURN…
Temperatures will continue to see-saw up and down the next few days as the frontal boundary wobbles back and forth across the region. We’ll warm back to near 80 degrees Saturday as warm, moist air returns – and so will the chance for more strong to severe storms. A SLIGHT RISK for severe storms containing hail and damaging winds are possible Saturday afternoon and evening mainly north of Bowling Green. We will continue to see a chance of showers into Sunday as the front slides back down into the Tennessee Valley.
WARMER AND STILL UNSETTLED NEXT WEEK:
Temperatures climb each day Monday through Thursday as high pressure attempts to reassert itself over the region. However, a series of disturbances moving just to our north will keep at least a small chance for scattered showers and storms in the forecast each day. Highs reach the upper 70s Monday and Tuesday, with low to mid 80s expected Wednesday and Thursday.
