Get Dad A Weather Radio

June 15, 2012

If you’re still looking for that last minute gift for Father’s Day, why not get Dad a NOAA weather radio? It’s rugged, it makes loud noises and it very well could save his life. This is especially true if your Dad likes to hunt, fish or go camping. Midland Radio makes a portable model that is not only programmable but will scan for the nearest NOAA weather radio signal no matter where he is. We will be selling that model – along with the conventional desktop radio – tomorrow from 10am to Noon at Walgreens in Russellville. Come by and see us, get a weather radio for Dad and we’ll program it for free. You’re welcome!

NOWCAST:
Mainly clear this morning with temperatures starting in the upper 50s to low 60s.

HOTTER AND MORE HUMID
Temperatures were a little warmer with the humidity also up a bit Thursday and the heat and humidity will be more noticeable for today. Under mostly sunny skies, highs should top out around 90° in the afternoon. The added humidity combined with the heating of the day may set off one or two isolated showers or thundershowers this afternoon, but most of the area will stay dry. It will be warm and muggy tonight under mostly clear skies.

FATHER’S DAY WEEKEND:
Dear ol’ Dad may want to hang out in the air conditioning or in the swimming pool this weekend, as more very warm and humid weather is in store. Slim chances for a few renegade, late-day thundershowers remain in play for both Saturday and Sunday, but for the most part, fair skies will dominate. Expect highs both days around 90°, with warm overnight lows in the upper 60s.

HEAT BUILDS:
The official start of Summer is next Wednesday and Mother Nature will be right on cue with things getting a little hotter as the week progresses. We’ll see highs climb into the lower 90s each day, with warm and sticky overnights. We could use rain, but the chances for it stay very minimal through next week.

TODAY:
Mostly Sunny, Isolated Afternoon Showers…High 90, winds S-7

TONIGHT:
Partly Cloudy, Areas of Patchy Fog…Low 68, winds Calm

SATURDAY:
Mostly Sunny, Isol’d T/Storms…High 90, Low 68, winds SW-6

FATHER’S DAY:
Mostly Sunny, Isol’d T/Storms…High 90, Low 68, winds SW-7
