SLIGHT RISK of severe storms is possible today mainly west of I-65. The main threats are damaging winds and large hail. An isolated tornado is also possible.

MORNING NOWCAST:
A line of rain and thunderstorms will move east into South Central Kentucky for the morning commute. A few of the storms may contain heavy downpours, strong winds, lightning and hail. Temperatures will rise from the 70s into the low 80s by 10am and mid to upper 80s around noon.

WARM, THEN RAINY:
Expect more very warm and humid weather today with a chance for showers and thunderstorms. A few of the storms may contain heavy rainfall, lightning and gusty winds. Tonight, a cold front approaching from the Plains will bring in more widespread showers and thunderstorms. A few storms could reach severe limits over western portions of the WBKO viewing area overnight into early Wednesday. That’s where a SLIGHT RISK for severe weather exists for the potential that a few storms may contain damaging winds and large hail. Shower and storm chances remain high into Wednesday. Afternoon readings come down from the upper 80s to near 80 Wednesday.

COOLER AND MORE COMFORTABLE:
A few scattered showers and thunderstorms remain possible Thursday before drier and cooler air takes over by late week. Highs drop into the 70s, staying there as Memorial Day weekend begins. Overnight lows will drop into the cool, comfortable 50s. Late in the weekend, a weak cold front easing into the region may touch off a few widely scattered thunderstorms Sunday into Memorial Day (Monday).

TODAY:

MORNING NOWCAST:
Mainly clear to partly cloudy skies this morning along with a few areas of patchy fog. It will be warm and humid as temperatures rise from the upper 60s to near 82° by 10am and around 88° by noon.

WARM, THEN RAINY:
After a weekend of scattered rain and thunderstorms, the first day of the work week will be hot and humid. Under mostly sunny skies, temperatures will reach the upper 80s and possibly the 90° mark this afternoon. It won’t be until late Tuesday afternoon/evening that rain chances move back in with a chance of scattered showers and a few thunderstorms. Some of these storms could become strong to severe with damaging winds, large hail and a few tornadoes – especially west of I-65.

A BIT COOLER:
There will still be a few leftover shower chances Wednesday afternoon into Thursday as a slow moving front pushes out of the region. We will see temperatures cool a bit into the mid and upper 70s. Sunshine returns for Friday and Saturday followed by more showers Sunday.

TODAY:
Mostly Sunny, Warm and Humid… High 89, winds S-12

Partly Cloudy, Humid… Low 68, winds S-6

MORNING NOWCAST:
Mainly cloudy this morning with a few light rain showers west and southwest of Bowling Green. Temperatures will start in the mid and upper 60s and rise to near 75° by 10am and around 78° by noon.

RAIN/STORMS POSSIBLE:
The work week ends on an unsettled note, with a better chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms today thanks to upper air energy arriving from the west. Locally heavy rainfall is possible where storms develop. It stays warm and rather humid with highs in the upper 70s.

AN UNSETTLED WEEKEND:
Our weekend will not be a washout, but we may have to contend with more scattered showers and thunderstorms. The best chance for rain is Saturday, with the action looking more isolated on Sunday. Any storm will have the capability of producing a drenching downpour along with lightning and gusty winds. Highs climb from the low 80s Saturday and Sunday.

CHANGES NEXT WEEK:
Next week starts very warm Monday before a cold front enters the region toward midweek. This sends a better chance for widespread showers and storms back to the region, followed by a cool down late in the period. Highs will be in the mid 80s Monday before dropping into the upper 70s by Wednesday.

Mostly Cloudy, Scat’d Thunderstorms…High 78, winds SE-9

TONIGHT – FREE Basic weather spotters class at Bowling Green Junior High Auditorium presented by WBKO’s Stephanie Midgett and National Weather Service Warning Coordinating Meteorologist Joe Sullivan, 6-8pm. Registration at the door.

MORNING NOWCAST:
Partly cloudy skies this morning with a few isolated rain showers or sprinkles mainly west of I-65. Temperatures will start in the mid and upper 60s and rise to near 75° by 10am and around 80° by noon.

SOME RAIN RETURNS:
We’ve enjoyed several days of dry weather after a wet start to May. Changes are coming, though. Increased moisture over the region combined with a front stalling out just to our north will lead to chances for rain returning. We’ll have a pretty decent chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms today and again Friday, with locally heavy rainfall possible where storms develop. Highs will be a bit cooler but should still reach the lower 80s both days.

STILL WARM, STILL UNSETTLED:
There will be no major change in the overall pattern through early next week. It stays warm and rather humid with a daily chance for isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms over the weekend into Monday and Tuesday. It appears we’ll have a better chance for more widespread rain and storms Wednesday as a cold front punches through. Highs remain in the 80s through Tuesday with overnight lows rising into the upper 60s.

TODAY:
Partly Sunny, Scat’d Thunderstorms…High 82, winds SW-11
Precip Ch. 30% – Rain Amount 0.20″

MORNING NOWCAST:
We will see a clear sky this morning as temperatures rise from the mid and upper 60s to near 78° by 10am and around 84° by noon under bright sunshine and warm southerly breezes of 10-20 mph.

WARM WEDNESDAY:
Sunshine and breezy southwest winds sent readings soaring into the mid 80s Tuesday and today looks to be even warmer! The last time Bowling Green hit 90° was September 7, 2012. We could come very close to that mark this afternoon with more sun and southwest winds continuing. Lows at night will be much milder, only falling into the 60s.

STILL WARM BUT TURNING UNSETTLED:
A cold front drops southward from the Midwest Thursday, getting close enough to us to spark off scattered showers and thunderstorms. The front stalls just to our north, however, so we stay warm with highs remaining in the 80s. It remains humid through the weekend into early next week, keeping at least small chances for isolated to scattered storms in the forecast each day.

TODAY:
Mostly Sunny, Breezy and Very Warm…High 89, winds SW-16

TONIGHT:
Partly Cloudy and Mild…Low 63, winds SW-7

THURSDAY:
Partly Sunny, Chance of Thunderstorms…High 82, winds SW-11
Precip Ch. 30% – Rain Amount 0.10″

FLOOD WARNING areas along the Green River Basin in Muhlenberg County until further notice.

LATE EVENING NOWCAST:
Mainly clear this morning with temperatures rising from the mid and upper 40s to around 68° at 10am and near 77° by noon under a mostly sunny sky.

MAJOR WARMUP:
The work week started on a cool note with afternoon readings only getting into the mid and upper 60s despite lots of sunshine. A breezy southwest wind takes over today, however, resulting in a big warmup! Highs will jump all the way into the lower 80s with mid 80s on tap for Wednesday. We’ll have partly to mostly sunny skies both days.

UNSETTLED END OF THE WEEK:
A frontal system easing down from the Midwest stalls just to our north Thursday into the weekend. This will bring us at least small chances for isolated to widely scattered thunderstorms starting Thursday and lasting through at least next Monday. It stays warm, with highs in the 80s and lows in the 60s.

TODAY:
Mostly Sunny, Breezy and Warmer…High 83, winds SW-13

TONIGHT:
Mainly Clear and Mild…Low 62, winds SW-11

WEDNESDAY:
Sunny, Breezy and Quite Warm…High 86, winds SW-16

FLOOD WARNING areas along the Green River Basin in Muhlenberg County until further notice.

LATE EVENING NOWCAST:
Cloudy this morning with rain and a few thunderstorms moving in from the west. Temperatures will start in the upper 60s to low 70s and will slowly rise to the mid 70s by noon. Some of the rainfall may be heavy at times.

A RAINY, STORMY DAY:
A cold front moves in from out of the Midwest sparking off numerous showers and thunderstorms. No organized severe weather is expected, but a few of the stronger storms may contain gusty winds, torrential downpours, and possibly some small hail. Highs will be kept cooler with the clouds and rain around, only topping out in the mid 70s. Showers and thunderstorms will continue tonight.

MOTHER’S DAY WEEKEND:
Today’s system heads out early Saturday, taking any remaining showers out with it. Everyone should dry out by Saturday afternoon, with the rest of the weekend featuring fair skies. It will be much cooler, though, with highs Saturday in the lower 70s and readings only reaching the mid 60s for Mother’s Day (Sunday). Lows at night will drop into the 40s. There’s even a chance that some outlying/rural locations could see readings dip into the upper 30s Sunday night…cold enough for a little light frost in sheltered spots.

NEXT WEEK:
A warming trend is forecast for early next week. With fair skies, expect highs to warm from the upper 60s Monday into the mid 80s by Wednesday. We’ll stay warm Thursday with a chance for a late-day thundershower.

TODAY:
Showers and Thunderstorms Likely…High 75, winds SW-12
Precip Ch. 90% – Rain Amount 0.75″

Precip Ch. 50% – Rain Amount 0.25″

SATURDAY:
Morning Showers, then Partly Sunny…High 70, Low 46, winds NW-8

MOTHER’S DAY:
Sunny and Cool…High 66, Low 41, winds NW-7

FLOOD WARNING areas along the Green River Basin in Butler, Muhlenberg, Ohio, and Warren Counties until further notice.

MORNING NOWCAST:
Partly cloudy this morning with a chance of an isolated shower, mainly west of I-65. Temperatures will rise from the upper 50s to near 70° by 10am and around 78° by noon.

WARM, THEN WET:
Readings got back into the 80s for the first time in a week Wednesday with the aid of more sunshine. Today’s weather looks similar to Wednesday’s with partly sunny and warm conditions. There remains a slight chance for a few scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly in the afternoon. Highs will reach the lower 80s with warm lows in the 60s tonight.

STORMY, THEN COOLER:
Our next cold front arrives Friday with widespread showers and thunderstorms likely. While organized severe weather is not anticipated, some storms could produce locally heavy rainfall. Chances for scattered showers and storms exist for Saturday, but everyone should dry out in time for Mother’s Day Sunday. Highs drop from the 70s into the 60s by late weekend.

NEXT WEEK:
Expect a slow moderation in temperatures under fair skies next week. Highs climb from the upper 60s Monday into the lower 80s Wednesday.

TODAY:
Precip Ch. 30% – Rain Amount 0.05″

TONIGHT:

FLOOD WARNING areas along the Green River Basin in Butler, Muhlenberg, Ohio, and Warren Counties until further notice.

MORNING NOWCAST:
Mainly clear to partly cloudy this morning with areas of patchy dense fog. Temperatures will rise from the 50s to near 70° by 10am to around 74° by noon.

WARMING ABOVE AVERAGE:
For the first time in nearly a week, we should see afternoon readings warm back above seasonal averages thanks to increasing sunshine. The upper low, heading into western North Carolina continues to lose its influence on our weather. However, there’s still enough moisture spinning around the system to help produce isolated showers and thunderstorms, especially with the help of daytime heating. Highs should reach the upper 70s. Lower 80s are forecast Thursday with a continued possibility for widely scattered thunderstorms.

STORMY LATE WEEK:
Another storm system drops in from the Midwest Friday. Showers and thunderstorms are likely to finish out the work week. Rain chances linger into the first half of the weekend, although we expect showers and storms to end Saturday night, paving the way for a nice but cooler Mother’s Day. Highs drop from the 70s Friday into the 60s Saturday and Sunday. Slow warming is expected early next week along with fair weather.

TODAY:
Partly Sunny, Ch. T/Showers…High 78, winds NW-7
Precip Ch. 30% – Rain Amount 0.05″

TONIGHT:
Partly Cloudy, Patchy Fog…Low 57, winds Calm

THURSDAY:
Partly Sunny, Ch. T/Storms…High 81, winds SW-7
Precip Ch. 40% – Rain Amount 0.15″
