SLIGHT RISK for severe storms today and tonight over all of the WBKO viewing area. The primary threat from any storm is the potential for damaging winds, large hail and flooding rains.
Mainly muggy this morning with a chance of thunderstorms affecting mainly areas northeast of Bowling Green with the potential for heavy rainfall and intense lightning. Otherwise, skies will be partly cloudy with temperatures in the mid 70s, rising to near 85° by 10am and around 88° by noon.
MORE HEAT, MORE STORMS:
We saw our 2nd hottest day of the year Tuesday with another hot and humid day on tap today. Our chances for showers and thunderstorms will be much greater today, especially late in the day, as a cold front advances southeastward from the Midwest. Some storms could be quite intense, with a SLIGHT RISK for storms containing damaging straight-line winds and large hail in place for the entire area. At this time, it appears the best threat for strong to severe storms in South-Central comes between 4pm and 10pm. Highs will top out in the low 90s with overnight lows staying in the muggy lower 70s.
A COOL DOWN COMING:
We’ll see a gradual cooling trend Thursday into the weekend, with readings falling back below early Summer average by Saturday. A series of disturbances riding in from the northwest will keep the pattern a bit unsettled, however. There will be at least a slight chance for showers and thunderstorms each day through next Tuesday, with highs in the mid 80s and lows in the mid 60s late in the going.
