Clear and cold with widespread frost until late morning.
8am: Sunny 33°
10am: Sunny 41°
12 Noon: Sunny 46°
THE CHILL LINGERS:
It feels more like early December rather than late October! Lots of clouds, a few sprinkles (which mixed with a few flakes over north/east sections) made for a raw, chilly Thursday. After a frosty start we will see more sunshine today. We’ll need all the sunshine we can get just to warm us to near 50° in the afternoon…almost 20° degrees below average!
If you plan to head to the WKU Homecoming parade or Big Red’s Roar in downtown Bowling Green this evening, dress warmly. The same holds true for high school football games as readings will quickly fall into the 30s after sunset. Another morning of freezing temperatures is expected Saturday, with many areas waking up to middle 20s. Saturday’s record low of 27 set in 1962 could be in jeopardy.
A WARMING TREND:
Breezy southwest winds and some sun should help readings climb to near 60 Saturday. We’re dry for WKU’s Homecoming game as well as Sunday, with highs close to Saturday’s. The warming continues as we move closer to Halloween (Thursday), but unsettled weather shows up by the middle of next week, with periodic showers that could last into Halloween.
