WINTER MIX APPROACHES:
A combination of a storm system moving through the Great Lakes region and overrunning Gulf of Mexico moisture heading north from the deep south will increase chances for a chilly rain this afternoon which could mix with or change to sleet, freezing rain and snow tonight. This could lead to a few slick roads late tonight and early Tuesday. As Tuesday progresses, temperatures will warm to change the precipitation back over to rain with a change to a few breezy snow showers Tuesday afternoon and evening. The greatest potential for ice/snow accumulation looks to be east of I-65 but even there, amounts look to be light. The greater concern will be the potential impact on driving conditions tonight, early Tuesday morning and again Tuesday afternoon and evening.
THE THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY:
Wednesday, the biggest travel day of the year will be chilly with highs in the mid and upper 30s as sunshine returns. For now, Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday look dry with a gradual warming trend into the 40s. Still, these temperatures are 10-15 degrees cooler than average for this time of year.
