COLD FOR THURSDAY:
A weak Clipper-type system quickly moved through Kentucky last night. This front was dry but turned our winds around to the northwest, sending down another shot of cold, arctic air! The result: we wake to very cold readings with lows running from 10-15 degrees for most. We’ll have lots of sunshine today but we’ll need all the sun we can get just to warm readings a little above the freezing mark during the afternoon!
After a sunny start, clouds increase Friday as a system approaches from the west. Expect moisture to move into South-Central Kentucky during the evening, with a mix of rain, sleet, and wet snow to start. There could minor accumulations of snow and sleet – mainly on grass and mainly north of Bowling Green – before all precip goes over to rain Friday night. Rain tapers off to light rain showers Saturday afternoon. Highs Friday and Saturday should reach the low to mid 40s.
Colder air returns Saturday night into Sunday. Any leftover moisture from our departing system Saturday night could go over to some light snow before it ends. No significant snow accumulation is expected, however. It looks quite cold but for Bowling Green’s Christmas Parade Sunday afternoon.
Our weather looks quiet Monday through Wednesday with a slow warming trend. Highs climb back into the mid 40s by the end of the period with lows in the 20s.
