SOME SNOW AND COLDER:
Low pressure has moved out of the Southern Plains and into Kentucky spreading moisture into our area. With just enough warm air pushing northward, it appears most of us will see rain at the onset of the precip. A mix of rain and snow is likely farther north/northwest. As colder air pours in by mid-morning, a change to light snow will occur from northwest to southeast along with northwest breezes of 15-20 mph, gusts to near 30mph. Snow accumulations will be minor…generally less than one inch.
This afternoon will be blustery and colder with scattered snow showers and flurries. Readings will tumble into the lower 20s with wind chills as low as the single digits by evening! Lows tonight plunge into the teens with highs only in the 20s Friday despite sunshine returning.
THE FIRST WEEKEND OF 2014:
Saturday looks nice with warmer temperatures, but another, bigger blast of Arctic air arrives late in the weekend. This system will bring us rain at first before a changeover to snow Sunday evening. Highs reach the mid 40s Saturday and again Sunday before the very cold air arrives Sunday evening.
MAJOR ARCTIC BLAST:
The headline stealer early next week could be BITTER temperatures and wind chills! Some of the coldest air we’ve experienced in nearly three years is forecast. Highs Monday will only reach the lower 20s and may not get out of the teens Tuesday! Overnight lows will drop into the single digits, with subzero wind chills likely. It remains very cold through Wednesday.
