NOWCAST THROUGH LATE MORNING:
Clear but cold with a chilly northwest wind.
6am: Clear 23°
8am: Sunny 26°
10am: Sunny 29°
STILL COLD THURSDAY:
Arctic air returned Wednesday with afternoon readings barely reaching 30 degrees! We won’t be much warmer today. A dry cold front swings through early in the day serving to reinforce the very cold air in place. Even with lots of sunshine, today’s highs will struggle just to make it above the freezing mark. With the passage of the front there will be an elevated fire danger as low humidity, breezy winds and dry brush will cause any fire to go out of control. Do not burn today! Another frigid night awaits tonight, with lows in the teens under mainly clear skies.
WARMING FOR THE WEEKEND, BUT THEN…
We’ll see a warming trend develop Friday into the weekend, although we will have to deal with a couple of weather systems. A weak weather maker arrives Friday night, with a chance for some light rain or wet snow showers. That system moves out Saturday, but another more potent system moves in on Sunday. At the moment, it appears we’ll see mainly rain from this one, although a change to a wintry mix is possible late Sunday night into Monday morning, especially for areas north/west of Bowling Green, as colder air returns. Highs Sunday may reach the mid 50s before readings plunge as arctic air comes back Monday through Wednesday.
The WBKO First Alert Storm Team with our partner Kroger will be selling and programming NOAA Weather Radios during the 2014 Home Expo, this Saturday from 10am until 2pm at the WBKO booth!
