NOWCAST THROUGH LATE MORNING:
Clear and very cold.
6am: Clear 22°
8am: Mostly Sunny 27°
10am: Mostly Sunny 35°

WARMER FRIDAY:
February ends on a milder note as southerly winds kick in. We start the day sunny but clouds will increase in the afternoon as a disturbance heads our way. This system will bring a chance for rain showers tonight, which may mix with wet snow flakes mainly north of Bowling Green (no snow accumulation expected). Highs will climb into the mid to upper 40s with warmer lows in the mid 30s Friday night.

WEEKEND ROLLER-COASTER RIDE:
Friday night’s weak weather maker moves out Saturday morning with the rest of Saturday looking dry. We will see readings climb to near normal for the first day of March, topping out in the mid 50s. Then, our weather turns much more active. A sharp arctic front will drop southeastward into Kentucky, with a series of disturbances set to rise eastward along it. The first one arrives Sunday morning, spreading rain into South-Central KY. To the north along/north of the Ohio River, a wintry mix is likely. Afternoon readings Sunday will range from the low 40s north to the low 50s for Bowling Green south to the Tennessee line.

Rain continues Sunday night, although it may mix with freezing rain/sleet north of the Western KY Parkway as colder air eases southward. A changeover to a wintry mix is likely across much of the area Monday morning before we dry out Monday afternoon. It is much too soon to get into specifics as far as any ice/snow accumulation is concerned. However, travel impacts are possible, especially north/west of Bowling Green, Sunday night into Monday morning. Stay connected to WBKO and wbko.com as we monitor this system.

THE COLD RETURNS:
Winter just won’t go away. Very chilly temperatures return next week, with highs only in the 30s Monday through Wednesday before some moderation Thursday. Overnight lows plunge into the teens early in the week.

The WBKO First Alert Storm Team with our partner Kroger will be selling and programming NOAA Weather Radios during the 2014 Home Expo, this Saturday from 10am until 2pm at the WBKO booth!
