FREEZE WARNING late Tuesday/early Wednesday as temperatures fall into the mid and upper 20s
NOWCAST THROUGH LATE MORNING:
Breezy and colder with showers ending, possibly mixed with wet snow. Gradual clearing from west to east.
6am: Drizzle 36°
8am: Cloudy 38°
10am: Partly Sunny 39°
The cold front that brought a rainy, windy day to Southern Kentucky Monday has now moved east of Bowling Green. After a warm, almost Summer-like weekend, colder air rushed in last evening with temperatures tumbling 20-30 degrees from the low 70s we had early Monday. A few scattered showers and drizzle will persist early this morning along with the possibility of wet snowflakes mixing at times.
Skies will gradually clear from west to east today but a stiff north wind behind the cold front will keep temperatures from hitting 50° this afternoon. As the wind settles tonight, a clear sky and high pressure overhead, we’re likely to see a widespread hard freeze across Southern Kentucky. Overnight lows will drop into the mid and upper 20s which could have an impact on any new vegetation not hardy enough to take the cold.
Sunshine returns Wednesday as temperatures recover to near 60° with readings into the mid and upper 60s for the end of the work week and into the holiday weekend. There will be a chance for more showers and thunderstorms Good Friday but much of the Easter weekend will be mostly rain-free with highs in the upper 60s which is close to average. Some rain showers return Sunday night and Monday with slightly cooler temperatures for the beginning of the new work week.
