SEVERE WEATHER THREAT:
We will see periods of rain and thunderstorms come in waves both today and Tuesday. Each wave will bring the potential for drenching downpours, damaging winds, large hail and even the threat for a few tornadoes. Much will depend on the amount of instability with each passing wave. Nonetheless, localized flooding and some severe storms appear to be likely both days. Prepare now for the possibility of seeing several rounds of severe weather that could affect you any time of the day or night. Take advantage of our Severe Weather Toolkit (above), keep your NOAA weather radio turned on and be ready to seek shelter if a warning is issued.
Even after this storm system exits the region, there will remain a chance of scattered light showers each day for the remainder of the work week and into Derby weekend. Highs will trend cooler into the low to mid 60s starting Wednesday.
