Official Start of Summer Will Be Cooler

June20trend

NOWCAST THROUGH LATE MORNING:
Partly cloudy, warm and humid. An isolated thundershower possible.
6am: P/Cloudy, Isol’d T/Showers 75°
8am: P/Cloudy, Iso’d T/Showers 79°
10am: P/Cloudy, Isol’d T/Showers 86°

BETTER SHOT AT RAIN:
We saw our streak of 90 degree days extend to four in a row Thursday, and while we may make it five in a row today, we do stand a better chance for rain. A weak front sliding in from the Midwest will bring more scattered thunderstorms to our area with the best coverage coming this afternoon into the evening. No severe storms are expected, but a few could contain heavy downpours, gusty winds, and possibly small hail. Highs will climb to near 90 with lows tonight around 70.

THE WEEKEND/NEXT WEEK:
Today’s front dips further south Saturday taking some of the edge off the heat for the weekend. Aside from a small thundershower chance mainly early Saturday morning, much of the weekend appears dry. Highs drop back into the more seasonable upper 80s as Summer begins Saturday, staying in the 80s Sunday.

The heat rebuilds Monday before another system arrives Tuesday and Wednesday with decent chances for showers and thunderstorms. After seeing afternoon temps climb back into the 90s Monday, we’ll see them drop into the 80s by midweek.
