VERY WARM AND UNSETTLED:
After some morning fog, skies will brighten in the days ahead but decent chances for showers and thunderstorms remain in play through midweek. With the atmosphere quite juiced up, any thunderstorm that develops may produce locally heavy downpours along with dangerous lightning. There is a SLIGHT RISK for severe weather for areas north of the Western KY Parkway today where a few storms may contain strong winds and hail. Highs will top out near 90. Lower 90s are forecast Wednesday with a chance for scattered thunderstorms continuing.
THE HEAT BUILDS:
Some of the hottest, most humid air we’ve experienced this season will be felt late week into the weekend! As temperatures increase, rain chances decrease with high pressure building in. Highs will climb into the mid 90s late week into the weekend, with upper 90s possible Sunday into Monday. Afternoon heat indices at or above the century mark are likely late in the period.
