BREEZY AND WARMER:
Temperatures returned to the 80s Tuesday and the warming continues today as breezy southwest winds kick up ahead of an approaching cold front. We should hang on to dry conditions to start with increasing high clouds. Highs will climb into the upper 80s with a few isolated showers into the afternoon.
We will wake up to numerous showers and thunderstorms Thursday morning as a sharp cold front moves through. Rain tapers off from northwest to southeast during the afternoon. Winds shift to the northwest, ushering in cooler air from Canada. Highs Thursday climb only into the upper 70s.
COOLEST READINGS IN MONTHS:
An extended stretch of unseasonably cool, Fall-like air dominates the latter part of the forecast period. Highs will range from the low to mid 70s Friday through the weekend – some 10-12 degrees below normal for mid-September – with very cool overnight readings. Some outlying sections may see temperatures as chilly as the upper 40s Friday and Saturday nights! Slight warming is expected early next week, with no mention of rain through the weekend.
