NOWCAST THROUGH LATE MORNING:
Showers and thunderstorms with heavy rain likely.
6am: Rain 75°
8am: Rain 74°
10am: Scattered Showers 73°
A STORMY START:
We are waking up to numerous showers and thunderstorms as a sharp cold front moves through. Severe storms are not anticipated but locally heavy rainfall is possible – especially north of Bowling Green through midday. Rain tapers off from northwest to southeast during the afternoon. Winds shift to the northwest, ushering in cooler air from Canada. Highs climb only into the upper 70s today.
COOLEST READINGS IN MONTHS:
An extended stretch of unseasonably cool, Fall-like air dominates the latter part of the forecast period. Highs will range from the low to mid 70s Friday through the weekend – some 10-12 degrees below normal for mid-September – with very cool overnight readings. Some outlying sections may see temperatures as chilly as the upper 40s Saturday night! A weak disturbance cutting through the area late Friday night might squeeze out a few light rain showers. Otherwise, the remainder of the weekend through early next week appears dry.
