NEW YEAR’S EVE AND DAY:
Sprawling high pressure will keep lots of sunshine around for this New Year’s Eve Day but readings will barely get above freezing thanks to a chilly north wind. If you plan to head out for any celebrations tonight it will be quite cold with lows from the upper teens to low 20s. A more southerly wind flow with sunshine will help temperatures warm into the low 40s for New Year’s Day.
FIRST WEEKEND OF 2015:
An extended trough of low pressure in the Gulf will send moisture our way early Friday morning. With temperatures at or near freezing, we could see a brief period of freezing rain and sleet Friday morning before a switch to all rain Friday afternoon as we rise above freezing. Rain is likely through Saturday before drier air moves in late Sunday. Highs climb to the mid 50s Saturday before colder air moves back in early next week.
