Our string of unseasonably mild days is about to be snapped. A north wind takes over today sending colder air back into the area along with an increase in clouds. Highs will only reach the mid 40s, readings more typical of late January. Lows tonight bottom out in the upper 20s with a cloudy sky ahead of an approaching system from the southwest.
A system tracking across the Deep South is likely to bring some snow to the area Friday night. This could start as rain or a mix of rain and snow before going over to all snow Friday evening. Some accumulation is possible – especially on grass – before the system heads east Saturday morning. Otherwise, Saturday appears dry before a Clipper system rolls through late Sunday into Monday with a chance for rain and snow showers. Temperatures trend colder through the period, with highs in the upper 40s Saturday, near 50 Sunday to near 40 by Monday. Overnight lows will range from the upper 20s to lower 30s.
