TWO SHOTS OF COLD:
We are being greeted to the return of cold, arctic air this morning! Highs today will struggle just to make the upper 20s with blustery northwest winds behind a cold front. A few flurries or light snow showers may fall but no accumulation or travel issues are anticipated. The air mass moderates just slightly Friday into Saturday before a second, even colder shot of air arrives Saturday night. Saturday’s arctic front may also bring us a few flurries, but no significant snow is expected. Highs on Sunday will be about 25° below average, likely not warming beyond the mid 20s! Lows will plunge into the single digits Saturday night – and – with gusty winds of 20-30 mph, sub-zero wind chills will be likely!
SYSTEM NEXT WEEK:
While it won’t be as cold Monday (President’s Day) into Tuesday, the air may be cold enough to allow for wintry weather Monday night into midweek. That’s when a more significant storm system is likely to arrive, with chances for both rain and snow on the board through the extended period. More very cold air follows for the middle of next week.
