WIND CHILL ADVISORY for the entire WBKO viewing area until 6pm Thursday

NOWCAST THROUGH LATE MORNING:
Windy and cold with snow likely, bitter wind chills.
5am: 23° 6am: 23° 7am: 21° 8am: 20° 9am: 19° 10am: 19° 11am: 20°

NEW SNOW:
A sharp arctic front has arrived. With it comes a band of snow – potentially moderate to heavy for a time – with accumulations of 1-2″ by daybreak. While snow amounts won’t even come close to Monday’s, this snow will be more wind-driven. Gusts to near 30mph will cause considerable blowing and drifting, making travel very hazardous! After early morning readings in the 20s, temperatures will tumble into the teens. Gusty winds will send wind chill values to near 0° to -5° during the day.

RECORD COLD COMING:
Some of the coldest air in two decades is in store for Southern Kentucky! As skies become mainly clear tonight, the snow pack will allow for BRUTALLY cold temperatures! Lows will plunge to around -10°, with dangerously cold wind chills near -25° possible. A record cold day Thursday will be followed by another night of subzero readings before we finally moderate somewhat Friday.

RAIN/SNOW CHANCES:
Another system arrives Friday afternoon with what will likely be snow before switching to a wintry mix of freezing rain and sleet and then to all rain by Saturday. Rain could end as light snow Sunday with colder air moving back in. We’ll warm into the 40s over the weekend before dropping into the 30s for highs Monday.
