Some of the coldest air in two decades has arrived for Southern Kentucky! Skies became mainly clear overnight. This, combined with the snow pack has allowed for BRUTALLY cold temperatures! Bowling Green has a new record low for the day at -7° (set at 3am this morning), along with dangerously cold wind chills near -25°. A record cold day today will be followed by another night of subzero and record cold readings before we finally moderate somewhat Friday.

Yet another system to watch arrives Friday afternoon with what will likely be snow before switching to a wintry mix of freezing rain and sleet and then to all rain by Saturday. Rain could end as light snow Sunday with colder air moving back in. Some snow/ice accumulation is possible Friday night before we finally warm above freezing early Saturday morning. Heavy rain of 1-2″ is also possible Saturday into Saturday night. We should go into the 40s Saturday and again early Sunday before colder air returns to close out the weekend.

Another shot of arctic air means more well below normal temperatures Monday through Wednesday. A chance for light snow is in the forecast Tuesday. Highs will be in the 30s to start the week before plunging into the 20s Wednesday. Lows will be mainly in the teens.
