SHORT BIO

I am the Weather Director for WBKO ABC/FOX/CW in Bowling Green, Kentucky.  I am also the co-host of “AM Kentucky“, one of the highest rated local morning newscasts in America.  I also do weather segments during “Good Morning America” and our “Midday LIVE” show Monday through Friday.  I have worked for WBKO twice in my tenure here…first, as a Creative Services writer, photog and editor in 1986.  After leaving for a few months, I returned to WBKO in July of 1988 as Promotion Manager and Weekend Weather Anchor.

The Allen Challenge.

I am honored to be the person you choose to switch on your TV every morning for the weather and a smile.  I accept the challenge presented me to wake up at 2am each weekday to help you get your day started.  When I was just a kid, I knew that TV weather would be one of the things I was destined to do.  But I’ve never limited myself to just one interest.  I’m also heavily influenced by music and audio, traveling and photography.

If you only watch me on TV, you’re only seeing a part of who I am.  Being a TV weatherman does not define me.  First and foremost, I am a follower of Jesus Christ and I pray this shows in everything I do.  I’m also a family man with a loving wife of almost 30 years, two grown children and one grandchild.  There’s so much about life I love and want to live that out every day.

I am a traditional guy who sometimes uses not-so-traditional means (such as social media) to express myself.  The older I get, the more outspoken I’ve become.  You may see me rant and rave about something that’s on my mind.  You don’t have to agree with me but I do give you the opportunity to comment if you wish.

Over the years, I’ve had moments of celebration and embarrassment.  I’ve rejoiced with friends and family over small victories and cried painfully through tragedy.  I’ve also dealt with my share of cowards and idiots that just want to push my buttons because of who I am and what I stand for.  That’s fine – it goes with the job.  But keep in mind, it doesn’t mean you get a free pass.

Every day, I challenge myself to be a better person.  My life is Christ-centered so God is the only one I am here to please.  If I do that, everything else falls into place.

Thanks for allowing me to speak from the heart.  Many more thanks for allowing me in your home every day to bring you the weather and maybe a little smile.  I truly feel blessed!

Chris
